Parents Evening's and fundraising with sausage butties!
Parents Evening – and Fundraising with Sausage Butties!
We are very much looking forward to seeing you.
We cant wait to be seeing you at one of our two parents’ evenings coming up:
- Wednesday 23rd October – ten-minute appointments between 3:15 pm and 6:30pm
- Thursday 24th October - ten-minute appointments between 3:15 pm and 5:15pm
In our first PTA meeting last week, we talked about fundraising and the mammoth task of trying to raise enough money to pay for coaches to take the children on a trip to Chester Zoo. As mentioned in an earlier newsletter, Miss El-Saiegh bid for free tickets and won, but the cost of the coaches is thousands.
A great suggestion was made about selling food on parents’ evening. Because children are able to wait in the hall while parents are with the teachers, we thought it would be nice if they could have their tea while they are there. This would be fun for the children, and make your lives easier as you wouldn’t have to worry about squeezing in their tea before or after. In fact – parents could eat while they wait too!
So, on both evenings, there will be for sale: sausage or veggie sausage butties, cake, biscuits, fruit, soft drinks. The prices are as follows:
Pork sausage or veggie sausage butty |
Piece of cake |
Small packet of biscuits |
Piece of fruit
|
Cup of juice |
£1:00 |
40p |
40p |
20p |
30p |
When you fill in the appointment request form, please let us know how many sausage butties you would like for your family if any, so we know how many to prepare. It would be very helpful if you could send in the form to class teacher by Wednesday 16th October. This will give us time to organise appointments so that siblings are close together, get appoint times out to you, and buy sausages!

Sports Report
A huge well done to our cross-country team who braved the tough conditions at Stanley Park this week. This race is known as being one of the tougher races in the calendar due to the steep incline at the beginning of the race. Despite this some children managed to achieve their PB finishes which is a fine achievement. This is our last race until after the Christmas break. The team continue to train every Friday morning. Well done all and thank you for your commitment and perseverance.
Another huge well done to our football team who visited Mab Lane on Wednesday evening. The rain poured, the ground was heavy but the team gave their all. Although we went 2-0 down early we settled into the game and even managed to test their goalkeeper with some great shots. Well done to Kai our goalkeeper who was awarded the MOM by the Mab Lane team. Although we lost it is clear that we are improving and a win is around the corner!
Celebrating diversity and culture at Phoenix
This week in assembly on Monday, we celebrated Iraq and Kurdistan!
We listened to some traditional music and even watched a video of a musician busker in Iraq who had made musical instruments out of a dustpan and brush! Thank you to Haryad for translating for us!
